Import & export
The price you paid the supplier is not what the goods cost.
Freight, insurance, duty, handling: until those are allocated onto the lines you received, your margin is an estimate. VIA ERP allocates them on the goods receipt, in the currency you bought in, and keeps the exchange difference where it happened.
Landed costs, allocated onto what arrived
Professional+Five cost types, four allocation methods, and an operation you can reverse.
On the receipt, nowhere else
Allocation happens in a panel of the goods receipt — the document that knows what actually arrived. It is not a separate allocation screen where you would have to find your lines again from memory.
Four ways to spread a cost
Freight does not spread the way duty does. The method is chosen per cost, not once for everything.
Reversible
A freight invoice arriving three weeks after the goods changes the cost of stock you already hold. The allocation comes apart and goes back together.
The cost follows the goods out
Once allocated, the costs are part of the layer's cost. What leaves stock leaves at the real cost of its batch, not at the supplier's invoice price.
Several currencies
Business+A rate table
Rates are data, held over time, not a figure typed into a corner of the document.
The exchange difference is an amount, not a surprise
Between invoice and settlement the rate moves. The difference is computed and recorded as an exchange gain or loss.
The impact before you commit
A preview of what the exchange rate does to a purchase in foreign currency, available from the Purchasing module.
Three decimals for the dinar
The Tunisian dinar is configured at three decimals when the organisation is created, as its rounding rule requires.
Tax changes with the counterparty
Business+An exporting customer, a foreign supplier and a local customer do not carry the same taxes on the same product line.
Fiscal positions
A fiscal position substitutes one tax for another depending on the counterparty. The rule is attached to the partner, not retyped on every document.
Your jurisdiction is installed up front
When the organisation is created, VIA ERP sets up the country's taxes, tax groups, fiscal positions, currency, banks, payment terms and numbering series. For Tunisia: six active taxes, five tax groups, three fiscal positions, eight banks and five payment terms.
Seven countries covered
Tunisia, France, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon.
The rate is frozen onto the line
Code, rate and effective date are written onto the line when the document is issued. A rate change next year does not rewrite this year's documents.
Buying abroad
Business+The same cycle as a local purchase, with the lead times on top.
RFQ and split award
Compare several suppliers on one request, and award to more than one when no single supplier takes the whole volume.
Partial receipt and backorders
One container arrives, the other does not. What is still owed stays visible, and over-receipt is blocked.
Three-way match
Order, receipt, invoice, with their tolerances — the check that matters when the invoice arrives from another country weeks later.
A price per vendor and per product
The price negotiated with a given supplier is applied to that supplier's purchase lines, and the line shows where the price came from.
What VIA ERP does not do
An importer should know this before choosing, not during the rollout.
- Nothing is filed with any authority
VIA ERP computes and keeps. It files nothing with customs or the tax authority, and electronic invoicing remains a roadmap module that is not for sale.
- A tax's legal code is stored, not printed
Every tax carries its official code and it is kept on the line. No printed document shows it today.
- No blanket agreements and no vendor price breaks
Annual volume commitments with call-offs, and price ladders by quantity or by date, are not available.
- No incoterms and no structured customs file
Landed costs are entered by type and allocated; there is no "import file" object gathering the declaration, the incoterm and the transport documents.
What your plan needs to include
Multiple currencies, fiscal positions and purchasing need the Business plan. Landed costs need Professional. Multiple currencies can also be bought on their own if that is the only need.
